Artistic and educational mediation: forum theatre with inclusive themes and gender diversity against bullying

Abstract: This study explored the use of artistic and educational mediation with secondary school students to prevent bullying and foster greater acceptance and inclusivity in schools. The play was used as a starting point for this approach. Bastard This project tells the true story of Romasanta, who, due to his intersex condition, was persecuted and harassed, ultimately becoming a serial killer. Using a methodology based on Forum Theatre as a participatory research tool, and incorporating ethnographic resources, the project aims to: firstly, raise students' awareness of their individual and collective responsibility, enabling them to recognize behaviors within processes of marginalization and exclusion that worsen the situation of victims; and secondly, demonstrate coping mechanisms to these victims. The research concludes that Forum Theatre fosters greater group cohesion among participants and facilitates the detection of and response to cases of harassment, making its use essential for promoting critical thinking and democratic values. Similarly, it allows for the development of key competencies related to language development, autonomy, culture, and knowledge.
