- The CEEB continues to advocate replacing disciplinary sanctions with educational actions
- Restorative Practices are a way to transform sports conflicts into learning and learning opportunities.
The Consell de l'Esport Escolar de Barcelona has introduced this season a new eina for the management of conflicts in school competition: Restorative Practices. It is a pioneering initiative in the sports field that focuses on reflection and reparation of damage as an alternative or complement to traditional disciplinary sanctions.
Inspired by restorative justice models, also applied in the educational field, these practices aim to transform conflicts into learning opportunities. Through dialogue, empathy and responsibility, children and young people are offered a safe space to express themselves as they feel, understand the consequences of the six actions and commit to millions.
The project contemplates two types of intervention according to the severity of the fets: a restorative question for serious cases and a restorative approach for more serious situations. These actions are due mainly to team esports, where the interactions are more intense and in some cases can lead to unsportsmanlike attitudes or lack of respect.
This season's assessment of the cases in which these practices have been applied has been very positive. For this reason, the CEEB reaffirms its commitment to an education in values and a better coexistence in the field of school sports, and will continue its commitment to replace disciplinary sanctions with educational actions next season.
